Steven Dale Beckmann, 52, of Stafford County passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015.
Steve's interests delighted his family and friends. He kept bees. He called his honey production Beckmann's Apiaries, and people loved it. All of his gifts to people were from the land and heart: honey, soap, beer, wine, mead, pickles and sauerkraut. He loved to hike, camp and fish. He and his wife were avid gardeners and loved producing an abundance of vegetables to eat, give away to neighbors and put up for the winter. When the family went on hiking trips to the woods or to a cabin, Steve made customized marshmallow sticks and taught his son to fish, start a campfire and to cook a palatable camp meal. Neighbors liked to stop by to see what Steve was up to. He was talented, interesting and loved by many.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had worked as a systems developer for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Beckmann of Stafford; son Connor Steven Beckmann of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, David Alan Beckmann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a sister, Julie Ann Daly of Wheaton, Ill.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. Burial will be private.
