Susan Davis Obituary

Susan Emmott Davis

March 12, 1946 - June 6, 2024

Susan Emmott Davis of Fredericksburg, VA passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024.

Born in London, Ontario, Canada in 1946, Susie (as she was known to her friends and family) was raised in Bartlesville, OK. She received her Nursing Degree from the John Phillips Hospital in Oklahoma and her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.

Susie was working as a nurse in Dallas, TX, when she met her husband, James Walter Davis, Jr. They married in 1968 and soon embarked on a life-long adventure with the Marine Corps. They were stationed all over the US and enjoyed an overseas tour in Seoul, Korea. Susie embraced new adventures wherever they were stationed and made it her priority to support her family and husband's career. Highlights during this time included being stationed in Hawaii, teaching ESL in Korea and embracing her love of history as a docent at Mt. Vernon in Virginia.

After his retirement in 2001, Walt and Susie moved to Fredericksburg, VA where she was very active at Trinity Episcopal Church, loved visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Alexandria, and never turned down a chance to play bridge with friends.

Susie's beloved husband of over fifty years predeceased her in 2022. She is survived by her only child Meredith Mulhern (Tom), grandchildren Evelyn and Thomas, siblings Cameron, David, Jane, Anne, and Peter and brother in law Joe Davis.

Susie will be interred with her husband at Quantico National Cemetery later this year in a private family ceremony.

Susie was a sweet and loyal friend, admired fellow Marine spouse, and wise mentor. I will miss her. She made every party and gathering a little more fun and her creativity was to be admired. I'm grateful for the friendship we shared over the last 35 years.
