Thomas B. Howard
Thomas Burke Howard Jr., 81, of Ashburn passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
Tom was born on Sept. 21, 1929, in Washington, D.C., to Dorothy and Thomas Howard Sr.
A ceramic engineer, Tom was recruited by Boeing to work on the design of the 707 and later by RCA for various project designs. He became the holder of 16 patents.
He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mountaintop, Pa., and Resurrection Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. Tom loved spending time with his family, telling his wife and children, "The best day of my life is any day spent with you."
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen K. Howard; children Thomas B. (and Lisa) Howard III and Elizabeth A. "Beth" Howard; and grandson Thomas B. Howard IV.
A service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. James Episcopal Church, Leesburg. Interment will be private.
