Rev. Anne Marie Finn

1941 - 2025

Rev. Anne Marie Finn, 84, passed away peacefully in Fredericksburg on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Anne was born February 28, 1941 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas. Her parents were Edwin Emil Finn and Marie Genevieve Templet Finn.

After graduating from Houston's St. Agnes Academy, she entered the Dominican Convent in Houston. Known as Sister Edwin Anne, in 1985 she was awarded two master's degrees (one in Art as a distinguished graduate, and one in ACAD counseling) from St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Texas. The next year, Anne earned a Professional Counselor degree from the Texas State Examiners of Professional Counselors.

After leaving the Dominican order, Anne was called to the Episcopal Seminary, and was ordained a priest in 1989. She served in various Episcopal Diocese of West Texas parishes, including Gonzales, Abilene, Coleman, Llano, and ultimately Fredericksburg, where she was a Clergy Associate. She was very active in the community as a Hospice Chaplain. Anne loved her cats, dogs, and goats and looked forward to being part of the St. Francis Day animal blessings each October. Over the years, her service brought joy to the lives of those she touched and she will be missed.

Anne is survived by a sister-in-law, Josephine Ann Finn of Fredericksburg; a niece, Linda Marie Finn of Valparaiso, Indiana; a nephew, Michael "Mickey" Finn and his wife, Kelly; seven grandnieces and nephews: Erin, Shannon, Caitlin, John, Brian, Sean, and Judd.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Edwin "Ed" Finn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to HC SPCA, Methodist Hill Country Hospice, St. Barnabas Church, or your charity of choice.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 601 W. Creek St., Fredericksburg.
