March 5, 1947 - February 5, 2024 Billy True passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024 in Fredericksburg, with his family by his side. He was born in Corpus Christi on March 5, 1947, to Leroy and Lucille True. Billy and his family moved to Fredericksburg while Billy was in grade school. He graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1965 and attended the University of Texas. He married his High School sweetheart, Joyce Ann Meier, also of Fredericksburg, on Saturday, July 6, 1968.
Billy worked in the finance industry in Houston until moving with his family back to the Hill Country and Joyce's family ranch near Fredericksburg in 1983. He was a farmer, rancher and restaurateur in Kerrville and Fredericksburg, raising two children and supporting his wife, Joyce's many professional, artistic and culinary pursuits.
Billy and Joyce were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville and were involved in the children's and youth ministry programs for many years. Later, they again became members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, their childhood church.
Billy is survived by his son Colonel Michael True (US Army, Retired), and his sons Michael True II and his wife Bailey of Georgetown, Texas, and Marc True and his wife Sarah of Houston, Texas; his daughter Heidi Georgi and her husband Brian Georgi and their son Christian of San Antonio, Texas. Also his sister-in-law, Linda Meier McCann of Fredericksburg and nephew John McCann and his son Jonathan; his sister-in-law Carol Goodrich Meier of Fredericksburg and his niece, Stefanie Meier Cowley and her husband Kevin and son Tyler of San Antonio, and nephew Dustin Meier and wife Victoria and daughter Berklie of Fredericksburg.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ann Meier True, who succumbed to a battle with Parkinsons Disease on March 5, 2021, his parents Leroy and Lucielle True, brothers-in-law, Wayne Charles Meier and Johnny Lee McCann.
A small private funeral will be held followed by a Celebration of Life later in the spring. The family asks that donations to the following Parkinson's Disease Foundations or
