Kermit Lochte Obituary

December 28, 1932 - September 13, 2025 Kermit Hugo Lochte, 92, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, September 13, 2025. Kermit was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on December 28, 1932, to Hugo and Olga Lochte. His ancestors emigrated from Germany in 1845 and were part of a group of 120 original settlers that established Fredericksburg in 1846.

Kermit married Alberta Jane Dittmar in 1954 and were married for 67 years until Alberta's passing in 2021. Their life together was rooted in faith, family and devotion to one another.

Kermit is survived by his three sons and one daughter, Ronald and Cassie Lochte of Cypress, Ross and Donna Lochte of San Antonio, Royce and Susan Lochte of New Braunfels, and Terry and Charlie Schultz of San Antonio. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Louis Lochte, Rebekah Lochte, and Rachel Lochte. Kermit was also blessed by his special friendship with Karen Palafox, whom he described as "cut from the same cloth."

Kermit was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Jane Lochte; his parents and three brothers, Elgin, Harold and Leroy Lochte.

Kermit was a lifelong Lutheran and believed in serving others through his church and community. He volunteered with Christian Assistance Ministry, or CAM, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels with Alberta, and even coached boys' baseball and girls' softball.

He served his church in many positions for over 30 years as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, Church president and on numerous committees.

Kermit worked at Kelly Air Force Base and joined the Army in 1952. After being stationed in Heidelberg, Germany for a "wonderful year," he returned to Kelly AFB until 1968. He then went to work at Defense Logistics Agency as a branch chief in Quality Assurance, overseeing government contracts, covering South Texas and northern Mexico. He retired in 1987 with 37 years of combined military and civil service work.

Kermit also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, woodworking, traveling and driving his Model A Ford. He and Alberta were members of the Alamo A Ford Club for over 28 years.

Kermit was a great neighbor. Our children used the ladder he had in his yard as a short cut to go and come home from school. Our sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace with Jesus and Alberta.

I grew up across the street from the Lochte family from 3rd grade on. It has been a blessing to be a life long friend of theirs. Kermit was an amazing man and will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss and pray God's comfort over you in this difficult time.
