William Victor Wilke

1938 - 2022

William Victor Wilke of Boerne, Texas, passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at the age of 84. He was the very first baby born in Keidel Memorial Hospital, in Fredericksburg, Texas, on Aug. 16, 1938, to Albert Julius Wilke, Jr. and Alice Pahl Wilke.

William grew up in Luckenbach, Texas and attended Fredericksburg High School, graduating in 1957. He joined the Marines after graduation and worked for Kelly Air Force Base in Civil Service for 30-plus years before retiring. After retirement, he raised exotic animals (Barbados and Black Hawaiian sheep) on his ranch in Rocksprings, Texas. William was an avid hunter in the Hill Country and Colorado. He also enjoyed processing his own animals and making sausage and jerky along with teaching his grandkids and others the process.

He was an amazing softball player who played for the city of San Antonio and earned many awards in his career. He also coached little league football and baseball in Boerne for a number of years. On Jan. 30, 1965, he married Glenda Frantzen in Fredericksburg, Texas. They lived in Fredericksburg and San Antonio for the next 5 years. In 1970, they moved to Boerne, Texas where they built a house and raised their two children, Tammy and Chad.

William is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Alvin, and brother, Jay. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; daughter, Tammy (Charles) Brodrick; son, Chad (Shanna) Wilke, and 5 grandchildren, John (Rachael) Brodrick, Ashley Brodrick, James Brodrick, Carson Wilke, and Sullivan Wilke. He is also survived by his sisters and sister-in-law, Ann (Newton) Kozielski, Alice (Larry) Pahl, Norma (George) Pehl, Jerlene (Terry) McWilliams, Laura Caddell and Terri Bedford and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

A Memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at 3 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m., at the Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home, 1265 N. Main St., Boerne, TX 78006.
