Betty Vachalek Obituary
Kokomo - 88, passed away at 10:47 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born June 10, 1929, in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Samuel & Eva (Erhardt) Puskas. On April 28, 1956, in Detroit, MI, she married George A. Vachalek who preceded her in death on February 19, 2005. Betty was a 1947 graduate of St. Phillip Neri High School in Detroit. She retired in 1962 from U.S. Army Ordnance Tank Automotive Command. Betty was a member of St. Mark Parish in Warren, MI. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Betty loved entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. She was always there to help a friend in need. George and Betty enjoyed vacations in Las Vegas and Baldwin, MI. Betty is survived by her daughter, Diane (Kevin) Kincaid; grandchildren, Courtney Kincaid and Jeremy Kincaid, along with seven nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Boulie Caylor, Madelyn Caylor, and Barbara Edwards. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, two sisters, two nephews, and favorite uncle, Adam Erhardt. Visitation will be held Monday at the Sterling Heights Chapel of E.J. Mandziuk and Son Funeral Directors from 3:00 PM until 7:00 Pm with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass of the Christian burial will be held Tuesday at St. Mark Catholic Church (Warren, MI) where Betty will lie instate at 9:00 AM until Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to St. Mark Parish or to St. Joan of Arc Church.
