John Conely Obituary

Conely

John D. (Jack)  Age 87, a lifetime resident of Livingston County, passed away of natural causes surrounded by family on May 10, 2017. He was born on February 27, 1930 a son of Charles and Mary Irene (Comisky) Conely in Brighton, MI. A man of many talents and gifts, he is most remembered for his racing and engine building career. A Motor Sports Hall of Fame inductee, he was nationally recognized for his work with Ford and Chevrolet as well as for his contributions to well-known Indy, IMSA, ARCA, USAC, and NASCAR race teams. His passion for helping others overshadowed anything else he ever did. Those who knew Jack knew that he was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. Jack was an Air Force Veteran, serving when he was a very young man. He overcame many obstacles in his youth and credited much of his success to the time he spent at Father Flannigan's Boys' Town School in Nebraska. Jack was the proud father of four children: Kimberly Conely, Jackie Scheller, Jeri (James) Tunell, and John (Jennifer) Conely; grandchildren: Erica Scheller, Dannielle Kelly, Bridgette Tunell, Daniel Scheller, Sean Conely, Kathryn Hoffman, Nathan Monahan, and Anne Conely; great grandchildren: Abigail, AJ, Finley, and Bennett. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Kelly, two brothers Horace and Bud Conely, as well as his mother, Irene. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Noon with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Jack's name are suggested to Fr. Flannigan's Boys' Town. Please visit Jack's Book of Memories at www.keehnfuneralhome.com

JACK RIES

May 22, 2017

My Condolences to the Conley Extended Family...

Jack was a life long friend and Buddy.. My first meeting was thru Irene (Jack's Mom) as I was their Paper Boy
so many years ago... We shared an interest in Cars & Racing and proceeded to a life time of lasting experiences.
Since learning of his passing, so many memories have resurfaced and brings me great joy while reminding me
how great his passing has saddened me.. RIP my Dear Friend - Till we meet again..... J.R.

Sending prayer's and condolences to all his family. I am thankful the times he let me help work on some of the race cars in the shop. Also for helping me to believe in myself. I will always remember him telling Doug to leave her alone let her fix the motor she has it under control she knows what she's doing. God bless him for believing in me when I didn't. Big hugs Uncle Jack!
