Leroy Gates Obituary
Detroit - Leroy was the eldest child of 8, born to the union of Leroy and Elise (Wade) Gates on Jan 26, 1943 in Detroit, MI.
After graduating from Central High School, Leroy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving nearly 25 yrs in branches USAF, Air National Guard, & the Air National Reserves, retiring a Senior Master Sergeant. In the 80s, Leroy worked at General Motors, Chevrolet Div., while continuing his passion of finance & tax accounting, focused on building his business, Gates Tax & Financial. While at GM, he met, then married Patricia Ann Cannon on Feb. 14, 1983, happily for 35 years. The union brought together 6 children, 9 grandchildren & 2 great-grands. They enjoyed The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, where Leroy served as head usher & treasurer for many yrs. Leroy enjoyed accounting & financial advising - even when his health was a challenge.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Pat; 6 children & their spouses; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grands; 1 sister, 3 brothers, nieces & nephews.
Burial mass is Fri., Apr 6, 2018, 4pm - the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (4800 Woodward Ave., Detroit).

I was so sorry to read of Leroy's passing. He was my parents tax man for many years and they were very fond of him and spoke very highly of him. I too worked with Leroy for my Mother and fondly remember his caring and helpful attitude. May he rest in peace.
