Michael Crosby Obituary

Crosby, OFM Cap

Michael Crosby, Capuchin friar and priest, died on August 5, 2017 at the age of 77, after suffering with cancer. He was born on February 16, 1940, the son of Hugh and Blanche Crosby of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  He was invested in the Capuchin Order on August 31, 1959, perpetually professed his vows on September 1, 1963, and was ordained on October 6, 1966. A writer and speaker, Michael was also the executive director of the Seventh Generation Interfaith Coalition for Responsible Investment, which focuses on social ministry and activism through investment. Michael did pastoral ministry at St. Elizabeth Parish (now St. Martin de Porres Parish) in Milwaukee from 1968 - 1973.  From 1973 until his death, Michael ministered in the area of corporate responsibility.  Additionally, he was a collaborator for the canonization cause of Capuchin friar Solanus Casey. Michael is survived by his brother Daniel (also a Capuchin friar), his loving nieces and nephews, as well as his many Capuchin brothers with whom he lived, prayed and ministered during the past 58 years. Visitation will take place Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5-8pm with a service at 7pm at St. Bonaventure Monastery, 1740 Mt. Elliott, Detroit.  Funeral and burial services will take place in  Mt. The passing of Friar Michael leaves all of us with a great loss, for he was able to touch the spirit of all he came in contact with.
His ability to bring about Justice in the way our money was used did a service to all who benefited from these investments.
I was one of those who was able to be touched by him. I found a man of great wisdom who was so very willing to share this wisdom with all.
It is with sorrow that I was not able to be part of the service that released his spirit to join the Blessed Trinity along with all the saints and angels in heaven.
I pray his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as the day go by - God knows, we need it more and more each day.
We pray that Michael's spirit may rest in peach.
