Andrew J. "Andy" Kavan, 36, of Lincoln, formerly of Wahoo, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, in Lincoln.
He was born Aug. 25, 1975, to Greg and Jean Kavan in Lincoln. With the exception of one year attending St. John Elementary School in Weston, Andy went to St. Wenceslaus Elementary School. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1993 where he enjoyed football, set several lifting records and was in the drama department. He attended Midland College in Fremont where he studied criminal justice and graduated in 1997. He played football four years and was the team captain and was named the power lifter of the year.
Andy worked for Maly Construction for several years and had recently worked for United Parcel Service in Lincoln.
Survivors include: his father, Greg (and wife, Jeanine) Kavan of Wahoo; mother, Jean Kavan of Lincoln; brothers, Greg Jr. (and wife, Deborah) Kavan of Wahoo, Chris (and wife, Kristi) Kavan of Mead, Nick Kavan of Wahoo; stepbrother, Danny Parsons of Mead; stepsister Cassie Parsons of Wahoo; nephews and nieces, Sam, Will and Eli Kavan, and Katlyn and Emma Kavan; and several uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Wilma Kavan and George and Geneis Schafer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo with the Rev. Charles Townsend officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. scripture service/rosary all at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour before the service. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in care of the family.
