Arthur B. "Art" Kampschnieder, 97, of Fremont passed away Jan. 25, 2017, at Fremont Health Medical Center.
Arthur was born June 15, 1919, in Cuming County to Lorenz and Elizabeth (Knust) Kampschnieder. In his younger years, he lived near Dodge. Arthur married Lucille Reiman on April 27, 1948, in Beemer. They moved to rural Howells in 1948. He retired from farming in 1980. In 1981, Arthur worked part time at Plumfield Nursery and Fremont Golf Club, both in Fremont. Lucille preceded him in death on March 27, 2013.
He enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his lawn.
He is survived by son, Adrian (and wife, Carol) Kampschnieder of West Point; daughters, Loretta (and husband, JC) Buffington of Henderson, Nev., Audrey Owens of Omaha and Agnes (and husband, Steve) Becker of Fort Calhoun; son-in-law, Tom Dembowski of Omaha; brothers, Robert Kampschneider of Dodge and Hubert Kampschneider of West Point; sisters, Gertrude Heimann of Fremont, Alfrieda Wordekemper of West Point and Oliva Luebbert of West Point; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille; daughter, Laura Dembowski; brothers, Rudy Kampschnieder and Clarence Kampschnieder; and sister, Leona Heimann.
The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. The Rev. Daniel Kampschneider will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials may directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or donor's choice.
