SIOUX CITY - Carl H. Nelson, 86, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, with his family by his side.
Carl was born March 27, 1938, in Walthill, Neb., to Harry and Mabel (Parrish) Nelson.
He lived in Fremont, Neb., worked at Overland Products Company and was a Fremont volunteer fireman.
On March 26, 1966, he married Margaret Clabaugh, of Westfield, Iowa, in Akron, Iowa.
They moved to Westfield, Iowa in the summer 1977.
There he worked for Royal Iron before going to work for Wells Blue Bunny from where he retired.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (John) Howard of Ancestor, S.D.; son, Ricci (Mary Ellen) of Sioux City, Iowa; stepdaughter, Mardell (Rodney) Obermiller of Council Bluffs; stepson, Rodney Hoffman of Hudson, S.D.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; brother, Don Nelson of Fremont, Neb.; and sister, Betty (Don) Patton of Oceanside, Wash.
A funeral service to celebrate Carl's life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa, 51106 at 11 a.m. A visitation will begin two hours prior at 9 a.m. Carl is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; son, Randi; step-grandson, Dustin; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Peggy; and brother, Harold.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Heritage Assisted Living, Sioux City, Iowa. The care he was provided with was impeccable and he truly enjoyed the staff and the people who lived there.
