Darrell Austin Obituary

The funeral for Darrell E. "Tiny" Austin, 91, of Fremont will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

He died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont.

He was born May 15, 1914, at Salem, Ill., to James and Georgia (Fischer) Austin. He grew up in Illinois, Wyoming and Nebraska and came to Fremont as a child. He was an independent truck owner/operator and leased to Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus for many years.

He married Ruth E. Carstensen on May 7, 1934, at West Point. She died Jan. 13, 1992.

Survivors include: a son, Larry (and wife, Patricia) Austin of Fremont; six grandchildren, the Rev. Larry (and wife, Laura) Austin of Ames, Iowa, Cindy Austin of Fremont, Debbie Austin of Covington, Ky., Sam (and wife, Kim) Austin of Lake Charles, La., Scott (and wife, Mary) Austin of Lees Summit, Mo., and Kristine Stock of Flower Mound, Texas; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Larry Austin will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, all in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation of Nebraska.
