Darrell E. Moss, 87, of Fremont died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born July 26, 1928, in Fremont to Benjamin and Henrietta (Keeler) Moss.
After graduating from Fremont High School, he entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II from Aug. 30, 1946, to Aug. 8, 1947. After his discharge, he returned to Fremont. Darrell married Janice A. Freeman on Feb. 25, 1951, in Fremont. Darrell worked for Hormel Foods from May 28, 1951, until retiring Sept. 28, 1990. He then drove a bus for Fremont Area Medical Center for five years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 20 and F.O.E. 200, both of Fremont. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He enjoyed playing golf, watching Husker and Green Bay football and spending time with his family. He was a collector of coins and many others things.
Survivors include: his wife, Janice Moss; son, Ben Moss (Mary Ann Kirby) of Omaha; daughters, Jodeen Keller and Lori Nelsen, both of Fremont, and Kim Moss of Omaha; six grandchildren, Chad Nelsen, Derek Nelsen (Briana), Katie Keller, Charles Keller, Jordan and Hailee Ramos; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Allender; sister, Loma Bales; and granddaughter-in-law, Sharyl Nelsen.
The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Scott Jensen will be officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20 will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Senior High School Booster Club or the American Heart Association.
