Glenda Tichota Obituary

Glenda Tichota, born on December 9, 1949, in Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully, on August 13, 2024. On July 13, 1968, Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Gary Tichota. Together, they raised three children and shared 44 wonderful years of marriage.

Glenda had a passion for baking, a talent she lovingly shared with her family. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter, especially during the holidays. If you spent a holiday with her, you remember the delicious candy, cookies, and famous cheese balls that became family traditions. Her enthusiasm for the holiday season was so contagious that the family is convinced she had a hand in coining the phrase "Christmas in July."

Glenda's greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored and spoiled at every opportunity. She is survived by her daughter Tina (husband Eric) of Strasburg, Colorado; son "Little" Gary (wife Diane) of Omaha, Nebraska; and Angie (husband Colby) of Phoenix, Arizona. Glenda is also survived by her sister, Pam Voss of Strasburg, and five grandchildren: Austin and Jared Lewis (Tina), Beckett and Emily Tichota (Gary II), and Peyton Lingenfelter (Angie). Additionally, she leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Archer Lewis (Austin).

We take comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad are together again, holding each other close and dancing the Jitterbug.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her sister, Linda Lippincott, and her parents, David and Audrey Townsdin. The family will hold a private celebration of her life in Fremont, Nebraska.

I knew Gary and Glenda from Fremont. Glenda graduated a yr ahead of me but she and my brother were in the same class of `68. She and Gary were a special couple! My deepest sympathy for your loss. She´ll be sincerely missed.

Tina, Angie and Gary and all of the Grandkids.... Glenda was a grand Lady! You kids will always be part of my family as we all had so much fun. Like mmmm, Fireworks in Hooper and the Station Wagon. :) I met Glenda in January of 1970 when I gave Gary a ride home when his car was not running. That has been 50+ years ago. I miss them both! Best friends ever. Will look forward to the gathering in the Spring. Hugs to you all. George
