Gregory James Bruno, 18, of Holliston, Mass., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Gregory James Bruno born Aug. 25, 1990, to James and Wendy (Thorsen) Bruno of Holliston.
He was a 2008 graduate of Keefe Tech High School in the carpentry program. He joined Keefe Tech in his junior year to further his carpentry skills. He was happiest working for others and family in the carpentry field. His ambition was one day to own his own business in Nebraska.
His other passion was traveling to Nebraska, Maine and around the United States. He loved NASCAR and attended three races in Loudon, N.H., and the Pocono race in Pennsylvania to root for his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart.
He was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching New England Patriots football, the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR. He enjoyed participating in many sports including golf, baseball, basketball, football and soccer. His sports participation included the Holliston Youth Soccer Association, Holliston Pop Warner, Inter and Post Road Soccer Clubs, Holliston Youth Baseball Association, Holliston Youth Basketball Association and Holliston High School soccer and baseball. He was the varsity goal keeper for Keefe Tech his junior and senior years.
He is survived by his parents; younger brother, Jeffrey Bruno of Holliston; his paternal grandfather, Joseph Bruno of Deer Isle, Maine; and his maternal grandmother, Neola (Jurgens) Thorsen of Holliston, formerly of Cedar Bluffs and Fremont.
He also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Florida and Nebraska; and by his dear girlfriend, Melissa Cote of Ashland, Mass.
He also was the grandson of the late Joan (Shaughnessy) Bruno and Randall Thorsen, and great-grandmother, Cathryn Shaughnessy.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont. A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Chesmore Funeral Home is arranging services to be held in Holliston. Burial will be in Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston.
