The funeral for Hy Van Nguyen, 71, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont.
He died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Ninh Cuong, Vietnam. He came to the United States in 1980 and lived a short time in Crete and then moved to Fremont. He previously worked at the former Campbell Soup Co. in Fremont and then was employed by Kerry Foods in Fremont.
He married Tin Thi Nguyen on Dec. 28, 1957.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont.
Survivors include: his wife; four sons, Thuy Van (and wife, Van Trang) Nguyen of Chicago, Cuong The (and wife, Thuy) Nguyen of Vietnam, Loc Xuan (and wife, Quynh-Nhu) Nguyen of Phoenix and Khanh Quoc (and wife, My-Linh) Nguyen of Fremont; a daughter, Sister Xuan-Dung Nguyen of Vietnam; four brothers, An Quoc Nguyen, Lap Van Nguyen, Hoang Van Nguyen and Thiem Van Nguyen, all of Vietnam; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
The Rev. Owen Korte will officiate Saturday's service. A wake service will be 7 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and continues one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont.
