June 13, 1931 - December 23, 2024
June G. Meier, 93, of Arlington, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Nye Legacy in Fremont.
June was born June 13, 1931, to Harry and Ella (Walkenhorst) Schmidt in Arlington, NE.
She was born in her grandparents' farmhouse and lived on her father's family farm almost her entire life. In 1949, she graduated from Arlington High School. For the following five years she worked as a secretary for Marshall Nurseries. On June 21, 1953 June married Willard Gene Meier at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. After her marriage, she managed the farm business. June and Willard were married for 64 years before his passing in 2017.
She enjoyed making hand-sewn quilts, cooking, decorating home-made cakes, and compiling a family genealogy. She loved the outdoors and sharing it with her family.
June was very involved with her church; serving on many committees including the 120th anniversary committee, the church history book "Come That You May Hear" committee, and the school history book "Come That You May Learn" committee. She was also a member of the Washington County Town & Country extension club.
June is survived by sons, Brian Meier of Arlington, NE and Mark Meier of Lincoln, NE; daughter Patti Nielsen of Blair, NE; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Willard.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. The service will be live streamed at http://www.youtube.com/@st.paulsarlingtonne4033. Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2024, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.
Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran School or donor's choice.
