Kenneth G. Krumpus, 73, of Wahoo died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
He was born July 18, 1940, in Wahoo to Ralph and Margaret (Rezek) Krumpus.
He attended St. Wenceslaus School through the eighth grade and graduated from Wahoo Public High School in 1958. He had attended Luther College in Wahoo for one year when his father died and he could no longer attend college. He began working as a machinist at Western Electric in Omaha in 1959. He worked there until his retirement in 1997.
Kenneth was married to Lana Van Norman on April 20, 1968, in Moville, Iowa. They lived in Omaha from 1968 until 1970 when they built their home in Wahoo. Kenneth was a member of Alma Lutheran Church in Mead where he served on the council. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2971 of Wahoo and he served as a Cub Scout leader when his boys were young.
He is survived by his wife, Lana; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Franziska Schneider Krumpus, Plymouth, Minn., Mark Krumpus, Derby, Kan., and Darrin and Jennifer Krumpus, Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandchildren, Paul, Peter, Gus and Josie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Krieser.
The funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alma Lutheran Church, Mead, with the Rev. Andrew Dietzel officiating. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday with the family greeting friends 6-8 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo and one hour before the service Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
