Larry Hansen Obituary
Larry grew up on a farm a few miles northeast of Tekamah, Nebraska, and attended Arizona District #3 Country School through the eighth grade. Weather permitting, he rode his horse three to four miles to school. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1959. After graduation, he followed his high school coach to Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, for two years and then transferred to Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, graduating in 1964.
Larry married Sandra Kay Gilbert on August 29, 1962, in Tekamah. From Omaha, they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. He served in the Nebraska National Guard and Army Reserves for six years, finishing at the end of 1971. In 1979 they moved to Fremont. He traveled for Nebraska Inspection Bureau, Olin Mathieson Chemical Company, Terra Chemical Company and
retired after 35 years with agricultural-based companies. In 1990, he received an award for being "Salesman of the Year."
Larry's golf clubs were always in the car, and he played many courses in Nebraska. It was good public relations with customers. He took several of them on company-sponsored golfing trips to Phoenix and Florida and fishing trips to Canada to pursue the "Big Fish"!
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Charlotte Hansen.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Annette (Nate) Novak of Waterloo, WI; son, Michael (Lori) Hansen of Kearney, NE; grandchildren, Jens Novak, Emily and Jacob Hansen; brother, Randall (Mary) Hansen of Billings, MT; brothers-in-law, Gary (Connie) Gilbert and Clark (Claudette) Gilbert; nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: May 19, 2025, 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church in Fremont.
