Lorene W. Buntemeyer, age 92, of Fremont died Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Dunklau Gardens.
Lorene was born February 5, 1926, on a farm near Byron, Nebraska, to John D. and Anna (Peters) Bruns. She was baptized February 22, 1926, at St. Peters, Byron. She was confirmed July 14, 1940, at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, Nebraska. She graduated in May 1943 at Deshler High School.
Lorene worked in Hebron and Lincoln, Nebraska, in banking. She married Paul W. Buntemeyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler on May 1, 1949. They moved to Schuyler, Wayne and permanently to Fremont in 1960. Lorene was a homemaker and later worked at the Dodge county Treasurer's Office in Fremont, where she retired in 1987.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, taking part in many church activities including Tabitha Society, Bible study groups and teaching Bible school.
She is survived by her husband Paul; daughter, Karen (Jay) Anderson of Fremont; grandchildren, Tracy Anderson, Chad (Tammy) Anderson and Christina (Brian) Ward; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lorene is also survived by two sisters, Lenora Frank of Beatrice and Thelma Liebe of Manhattan, Kansas; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Buntemeyer of Broken Bow; allso several nieces and nephews.
Lorene was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Brian Basinger, her parents and five brothers.
The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 29, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Weber will officiate. There is no visitation. A private family committal will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Fremont Area Alzheimer's Collaboration (Fremont Area Community Foundation, 1005 E. 23rd St., Suite 2, Fremont, NE 68025) and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
