Richard Masters Obituary

Richard A. Masters, 80, of Fremont died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at his home in Fremont.

He was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Arlington to Loren and Eula (Adams) Masters. He grew up at Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 27, 1949, to Jan. 26, 1950, and he served in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 29, 1950, to Aug. 12, 1954, during the Korean War. He moved to Fremont in 1956. He worked at Hormel Foods Corp. from January to December 1950 and again from 1954-1992.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C., at Fremont, Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8332 and American Legion Post 20 of Fremont.

Survivors include: sons, Pat (and wife, Rita) Masters and Kent (and wife, Amelia) Masters, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tom Masters of the Bahamas; sister, Nila Utterback of Lincoln; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, U.C.C., in Fremont with the Rev. Cody Gallatin officiating. There is no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the Dodge County Humane Society.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
