Sally (Flora) Hamilton
August 22, 1932 - January 19, 2024
Sally A. Hamilton, 91, of North Bend, Nebraska passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at Brookestone Meadows in Elkhorn, NE. She was born August 22, 1932 in Rogers, NE to Peter and Olive (Shultz) Flora.
Sally was raised in Rogers until the 8th grade when her family moved to a farm north of North Bend. She graduated from North Bend High School in 1949. She married David T. Hamilton on February 12, 1950 in North Bend where they lived most of their married life.
She was a former member of the First Methodist Church in North Bend and a current member of United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. Sally was a charter member of the North Bend Friends of the Library, past president of the North Bend Library Foundation and served two terms on the North Bend Library Board of Trustees. She was past president of the Trustee Section of the Nebraska Library Association. In 1986 Sally received the Nebraska Library Association Trustee Citation Award in 1986 for outstanding leadership and dedicated service. Sally also volunteered with the activities program at Birchwood Manor nursing home for 17 years.
Sally is survived by her twin sons, Daniel (Becky) Hamilton of Omaha and David A. (Sheryl) Hamilton of Elkhorn, NE; daughters, Linda C. Hamilton and husband Lee Ireland of Upland, CA and Carol (Phil) Stallings of Omaha; sister, Eva Roubal of Lincoln; grandchildren, Christy (Kenton) Schegg, Aaron (Sarah) Hamilton, and Matt (Emily) Hamilton; and great-grandchildren, Katie Schegg, Stella Schegg, Davin Hamilton, Lena Hamilton, Sam Hamilton, Jack Hamilton and William Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David T. Hamilton in December 2020, and brothers, Allan and Walter Mitchell.
Burial will be at Purple Cane Cemetery. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
