Sally Shanks Obituary

Sally L. Shanks, 58, of Nickerson died early Saturday morning, Oct. 24, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.

Sally was born March 19, 1957, in Omaha to Walter and Bertha (Therkildsen) Sund. Her early childhood years were in Omaha, then her family came to Fremont. She was a 1976 graduate of Fremont Senior High School.

During her working years, Sally was employed by the Holiday Lodge in Fremont, Fremont Beef, and ENCOR. She also was a foster parent.

On Sept. 15, 2006, Sally was married to Alan Shanks and they made their home near Nickerson.

Survivors include: her husband, Alan; three sons, Matthew (and wife, Laramie) Chrisman of Omaha, Mark (and wife, Stephanie) Chrisman of Grand Island and Tyler (and wife, Katie) Chrisman of Omaha; two stepdaughters, Sara (and husband, Trevor) Mueller of Fremont and Laura Brown of Scribner; six grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (and husband, Judson) Skoog-Smith of Fremont; two brothers, Warren (and wife, Sandy) Sund of Fremont and Daniel (and wife, Ann) Flood of Norfolk; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Shanks of Fremont.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bertha Sund; and brothers, Wayne and Bobbie.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. There will be a private family committal.
