Alan Kevorkian Obituary

Alan Keith Kevorkian was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He brightened the lives of those around him with his kindness, generosity, and upbeat personality. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. Alan was born on December 6, 1956. He passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2009, at 11:58 a.m., surrounded by family and friends. At the age of 52, he lost his brief but courageous battle with cancer. He grew up in Fresno, with his brother Larry, and graduated from McLane High School in 1975. After graduating, he worked as a self-employed entrepreneur. He spent many years, during his spare time, restoring hot rods and collecting antiques. Because of these passions, he could be found on Saturdays at just about every yard sale in town. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of professionals at St. Agnes Medical Center, with special thanks to Dr. Guleserian and Dr. Koster. Alan is survived by his loving parents, Jacob and Rose; and his brother Larry. He is also survived by his favorite uncle, Steve Matoian; aunt, Roxie Matoian; along with many cousins and friends, including "The Pleasanton Crew" Phil, Elaine, Brad, Sandra, Jeff Susan and Arlen. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul Armenian Church in Fresno on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will conclude at Masis Ararat Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in memory of Alan to Pancreatica.org, 149 Bonifacio Place, Monterey, Ca. 93940; or to St. Paul Armenian Church, 3767 N. First St., Fresno, Ca. 93726; or to the donor's favorite charity.

To my dearest of friends Jake, Rose and Larry, I was heartbroken to hear abuot Alan from my Mom. When she called and gave me the news I was speechless. I remember talking to Alan at Bobs Big Boy during the car shows on Friday night as if it were just yesterday. I started remembering the days when we would ride mini bikes, play baseball and go downtown to ride the elevators. The left handed catchers mit Jake got me in Little League, the great food from you Rose and the everlasting friendship of you Larry and Alan. Alan's heart of gold and warm smile will be forever missed but, I know the world was a better place at one time because of him. Bless you Jake, Rose and Larry, you are always in my heart.

As a mother, I thank Alan for the wonderful inspirations he and his brother Larry have so graciously and generously given my son, Brad. Alan will be remembered in my heart forever as being one of the most giving people in our lives of things that are so far more important than anything monetary or material. A truer friend could not be found anywhere. And my thanks to Alan's family for sharing him with us. He is a son to be very proud of.

Alan was a childhood playmate, always willing to join we older kids, in kick the can, wiffle ball or football games. I moved away from Fresno in 1973 and hadn't seen Allen since. The Kevorkian home was our second home and the Kevorkian family touched my life. Thank you for being an important part of my life. My heart is with you Jake,Rose and Larry.

Alan was a good, kind and honest man. It has been our privelage to have known and done business with him over the last eleven years. We will especially miss the many conversations we have had trying to understand, if not cure, the world's problems. God bless you Alan you will be missed.
