Alex Morillo Obituary

Alex Tony Morillo
October 22, 1927 - December 5, 2020
Clovis, California - Alex Morillo, 93, passed away on December 5th, 2020, in Clovis, CA. He was a lifelong resident of the Central San Joaquin Valley. Alex was born in Lindsay, CA to Refugio and Marina Morillo on October 22nd, 1927. He was one of 7 children. Alex attended Lindsay High School and was a talented athlete, playing basketball, football, and baseball. He made many friends in school and kept in touch with a small group of them right up until his death. Just days after graduating, he entered basic training in San Antonio, Texas. Alex served in the United States Army Air Force, as a radio mechanic stationed at the Haneda Airbase, just outside of Tokyo, Japan. He enjoyed telling the story of standing guard for General MacArthur's airplane.
When he returned from Japan, Alex met and married Vera. He was devoted to his children Mike, Darcelle, Michelle, and Steven (who preceded him in death). Alex took the family on road trips across California and memorable camping trips in Camp Nelson and Sequoia National Park. He worked as an auto mechanic for Walter Bohnisch in Lindsay, Carl Hill in Exeter, and Arnold Wiebe in Visalia and was often requested by customers. Around the house, Alex was a craftsman with a knack for repairing just about anything from the radio to the roof. He loved his Chevy truck, and he tinkered on it for many years. In retirement, Alex and Vera moved to Badger, CA in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas where they lived in their little red cabin, and enjoyed life and nature at a slower pace.
Anyone who knew Alex was met with kindness and honesty. He was hardworking, gentle, and patient. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Vera; his son, Mike Morillo and daughter-in-law, M'Lissa; his daughter, Darcelle Snodgrass and son-in-law Andy; his daughter Michelle Nicholas and son-in-law Steve; and grandchildren, Matthew Dean Snodgrass, Emily Marina Morillo, and Benjamin Alex Nicholas. There will be a celebration of Alex's life at a later time.
