Alfred Ricardo Obituary

Alfred " Freddy" Ricardo
May 12, 1951 - October 25, 2020
Fresno, California - Freddy Ricardo was born May 12, 1951 to Librado and Ricarda Ricardo; he was the 6th of 8 children. Freddy was a simple person who lived his simple life to the fullest. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him; his example of hard-work, honesty and generosity was clear to all and will serve as an endearing life-lesson for his entire family, for whom he always worked and sacrificed and loved. Freddy was a very hard worker. After retiring from Fresno County, he did what he could to help family and friends with what was requested from them..
He loved fishing, coaching and playing baseball. He shared his love and passion with all his family, friends, and those who crossed paths with him.
While attending McLane High School in the '60s, Freddy was already a storied, champion baseball player by the time he had graduated in 1969. He was an outstanding pitcher on the high school baseball team. He threw several no-hitter games earning the attention of several newspaper reporters and a few semi-pro scouts. His natural talent and love for the game kept him constantly involved in the community; either as a player or coach in Fresno's many baseball leagues simply as that friend-of-the-coach in the stands. He was well known throughout the local softball community. He played many years of softball, even up until the time of his death; he was still involved with a senior slow pitch league.
Freddy loved life and people. He could talk about anything under the sun. Friendly and charming, his conversation and personal stories could extend and include diverse names from all walks of life from the whole Central Valley. Yet all who knew him, no matter their social status or material wealth, will speak of the same man: humorous and witty, industrious and resourceful, strong but gentle in spirit, and eyes that would laugh with the rest of his smiling face. He lived a simple life as an untiring handyman who never met a project that he would not only complete but left in a stronger condition than it was when he found it. The same can be said for the love he forged with family and friends.
Freddy succumbed to injuries suffered in an auto accident on 10/25/2020. He is survived by his son Dominic, and his grandson, Librado. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Lucy, Tom (Jenny), Alice, David (Pat), Patty, and Ralph (Anita), and sister-in-law Esther. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Ricarda Ricardo, and brother Manuel Ricardo.

I always knew my dad would be my number fan. Doing all he can for me & my son, was his only plan. He raised me since a baby and tried the best he was able. Every night he brought us food to our kitchen table, he would always share a story that we’d cherish and hold on to like the Holy Grail. He worked every day just to make his way and pave my pathway for a better day. When I began to grow, our love did too & he taught me so much thru all the life’s decisions we both went thru. Everything we did, we did together and now you live in the heavenly gates forever. No more pain, no more problems, no more struggling to try and solve them. No more working till your tired. Your with our loved once that we admire. We love you Freddy and will never let your memories fade. We will live for you and love for you and take it day by day. You were a guardian Angel to me and my family. Now you get your wings and no more tragedy. We will remember the love you shared and the way you cared cuz there is no one that can compare to your unconditional love so rare. You showed us your love thru your sacrifices you made each and every day for me and my son & all the family. I know God’s raised you up in his light rays and I know you will visit me in my dreams. I just wish you didn’t have to go thru so much pain, but even then you still would never complain. I’m in a light daze still thinking this is a dream. But I know that you are now part of God’s regime. God, you have gained a Warrior of the light. I know he is in your heavenly site. Wrap your arms around my Pop, but let him know that our love for him won’t ever stop. Till we meet again my best friend, my Daddy, My Father. We all should have treated you better, but when we get up there, your gonna be treated the best FOREVER!!!!!!!!

Freddy was more than a brother- in-law to me he was my brother and my best friend. I loved him dearly. I remember I was 13 when Fred came into my life ,I remember him picking me up on his baby blue motorcycle from school us going fishing and throwing a football around. I have lots of fond memories of him to many to write down. Also through many of my dark years he would take time to make that long journey to visit me. His smile, and wit, and out look on life always cheered me up. He was my biggest emotional supporter.
My dearest Fred ,you left us to soon . Your absence leaves a sorrow in my heart that i cant explain . How I will miss your encouraging words, and how I so need them today. P.S. Dawg put a good word in for me with Chrst. Love you.

Freddy was my cousin. The Somawangs lived in Orosi and
We would see the Ricardos several times a year. We were all about the same age and were close in our ties. I am so proud to say that I had Freddy for a cousin. He was a very thoughtful person. Rest In Peace dear cousin. Join the parents that you loved saw dearly.

He was the most awesome and amazing friend that I ever could have been introduced to. We spent many wonderful days fishing or having lunch and just hanging out together. He was such an amazing friend he would just call to say hi hello and how are you doing today. He will forever be in my heart and definitely never forgotten for the warmth and joy he brought into my life.
My warmest thoughts and prayers go out to those he has left behind. I know in my heart he is looking down on us all with that beautiful smile he always had for all those he came into contact with.
He will truly be missed.

We have lost an amazing man. Not a day goes by that we don't think about Pop's/grandpa and wish he had not been taken away from us. Pop's touched our lives and embraced my children as though they were his own. I will forever be grateful for the love and patience he gave Chano. His gentleness and love he demonstrated Lulu. The love he had for my children was a true blessing. Pop's/grandpa took time to show them how to play horseshoes, watch them perform a dance or sing a song for him, or just a simple conversation with both my kids; his interaction with them meant the world to me! I am glad I got to thank him months before and tell him how blessed we were to have him in our lives. We love and miss him immensely ..... Rest in paradise Pops, Grandpa Fred/Mr.Fred❤
