Ben passed away peacefully on January 8, 2014. Ben was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His two greatest joys in life were family and helping those in need.
Ben was born on March 18, 1938. He attended Tranquility High School where he made many lifelong friends. He then attended the University of California, Davis where he met his future wife and the love of his life Marilyn. They created a nurturing and loving home for their children. Ben retired early and relished his role as a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren.
Ben worked for Mobay/Bayer for thirty years in sales and management where he made many friends in co-workers and customers. He raised money for the Poverello House, donated close to ten gallons of blood, and helped out many people with his counsel and example. He was generous, gentle, and kind.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dominos, board games, poker, golfing with friends and being a member of SIRs, and tending to the roses. He was a good athlete and played football at Davis. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed his many adventures with his wife, family, and friends.
Ben lived a full and rewarding life. He used his energy to build a loving family and worked in earnest to help those in need. We will all miss him and will carry him in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Mello, Dr. Sachin Gupta, and the staff at Saint Agnes Medical Center for their wonderful care.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents M.B and Mildred; and his wife of 49 years, Marilyn.
Ben is survived by his daughter Lisa and her husband Alfred J.; son, Marty and his wife Dianne; sisters, Darlene and Shelly; brother-in-law Chuck; his grandchildren, Dyllan, Benjamin, and Mallory; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers remembrances be made to the Poverello House, P.O. Box 12225, Fresno, Ca. 93777.
