September 18, 1931 - September 29, 2021
Fresno, California - Carrie Garrison, born Bertha Mae Anderson, loved by her family, passed away on September 29th. Born in Fresno in 1931 to Harvey and Bessie Anderson, she had one brother, Roy Andersen. Carrie attended Chester Rowell Grammar School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. She attended Warner Pacific Christian College in Portland, Oregon. She married Dalton Garrison in 1954. Carrie received her BA from Cal State Fresno in Early Childhood Education and an MFA from Cal State Los Angeles. She taught in the Monterey School District and the Fresno Unified School District. Carrie was an accomplished artist, photographer, cook, and gardener. Her love and generosity touched many lives.
She is survived by her children Dan Garrison and wife Raina Fulton, Kathleen Duket and husband Keith, Pat Garrison and husband Don Westbrook, and Laurie Cook and husband Doug. Her foster daughter Jill Wilding is deceased . She has four grandchildren, Keith Duket, Jr., Jeremy Dodd, Stephen Garrison, Gray Garrison and Amelia Garrison, and 4 great-grandchildren, Selena and Keith Duket III, and Madison and Jack Garrison. Carrie was preceded in death by her beloved partner Steve Riley. Carrie will be forever loved and remembered.
