Charles Ashley Obituary

CHARLES SPENCE ASHLEY "CHUCK" Charles passed away in Fresno, CA, on August 19, 2002, at the age of 78. He was born at the home of his maternal grandmother in Burrough Valley, but grew up in Fresno. He attended Jackson Elementary, Roosevelt High School. Fresno State College, and was a graduate of University of California, Berkeley. Charles was a science teacher and, later, head counselor at Roosevelt and Bullard High Schools. Also, he was involved with his father and his brother in ranching. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps, 17th Weather Squadron, Pacific Theater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Vivian Spence Ashley. He is survived by his wife Betty; his daughter Allyn Jarrett, her husband Stan, and son Corey of Colorado; son Chip, wife Julie, and daughter Megan of Tollhouse; and his son Jonathan of Los Gatos. His brother Thomas and wife Regina, their children Beth Ashley-Gilbert, and Thomas Jr. also survive. At Chuck's request there will be no funeral.
