Charles Richard Harper

Mr. Charles Richard Harper "Dick", 87, of Clovis died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sun. afternoon Jan. 13, 2019 at Carmel Village Memory Care in Clovis. He was the husband of Connie Harper who preceded him in death in August 2005. Born on Sept. 13, 1931 in Wilmington Delaware, he was the son of the late Frank Harper and Margaret Harper (Crawford). Dick graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware. He proudly served his country in the United States Army achieving the rank of 1 st Lieutenant. He worked in the steel industry for both U.S. Steel and Kaiser Steel in Pittsburgh PA, Gary IN, and Fontana CA. Dick was also a small business owner of California Container in Fresno until his retirement. Dick is survived by his three sons William Harper, Robert Harper, and Frank Harper. Dick also has several grandchildren Samantha Harper, Sydney Harper, Christopher Harper, Austin Harper and Jackson Harper. Dick leaves behind a sister Marion Beauchamp in Ohio along with his nieces and nephews Barney Beauchamp, Kate Beauchamp and Patty Stem. Anyone wishing to honor Dick's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society, Hinds Hospice, or the Alzheimer charity of their choice. A private memorial with his family will take place at a later date.
