Clinton Thaxter Obituary

Clinton E. Thaxter, Jr.
October 23, 1930 - October 31, 2022
Fresno, California - Clinton E. Thaxter, Jr. died peacefully October 31, 2022, while his son, Alan, held his hand. Born October 23, 1930, he was the oldest son of Clinton E. Thaxter, Sr. and Genevieve (McGuffin) Thaxter.
Clint was a stockbroker for more than 30 years until his retirement from Dean Witter Reynolds in 1990. From 1964 to 1979 he was a nightly fixture on the KMJ news with the daily report from Wall Street. Clint was an excellent golfer when younger, carrying a 4 handicap at his best. He was a life long fisherman and avid gardener.
Clint proudly served his country in the United States Navy during and after the Korean War, including a two-year assignment in the Philippines. He lived at the Veterans Home of California in Fresno since 2019.
Nothing brought more joy to Clint than his large, close-knit family. He was married to the love of his life, Jo Anne Keyes Thaxter for 58 years before her passing in 2012. He is survived by their 5 children: Norman (Katherine), Mary Lynne (Chris), Alan (Vickie), Catherine (Garry), and Jo Anne (Michael); 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Zimmerman and brother James F. Thaxter (Carol); many nieces and nephews; and his loving companion and best friend, Ann Leonardo Thaxter. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas H. Thaxter.
The family extends its sincerest gratitude and thanks to the people at the California Veterans Home for their loving care and support throughout Clint's residency, and especially during his final days.
Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or a favorite charity.
Private services will be held.
