On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Lee Henry Thaxter, was called home after a short illness. On February 12, 1962 Lee Henry Thaxter was born to the late Aussie Bruce Thaxter, Sr. and Rosie Mae "Big Mama" Clark in Jackson, TN.
Lee Henry received his education with the Madison County School System. Lee enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard in 1981.
Lee Henry accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized at an early age at Middleton Payne Church of Christ, which is now known as the East Jackson Church of Christ in Jackson, TN. Lee Henry worked at Lane College, before he became ill in Jackson, TN.
Lee Henry was preceded in death by his father, Aussie Bruce Thaxter, Sr., and his mother Rosie Mae "Big Mama" Clark; a sister, Brenda Jean Thaxter; three brothers, Guy Bruce Thaxter; Willie Ray (Kathy) Thaxter; and John Louis Clark; a nephew, Alesceo Butler; grandparents Sumnell Clark and Ruth Ann "Ruby" Clark; grandmother Ada Hunt; and three brother-in-law's Joe Witherspoon, William Long and Steven Williams.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, his wife Dorothy Thaxter; step-daughter Lakita Deshaun Long; step-son Montopollis Lamar (Melissa) Long; and step-son Freddie Allen Long, Jr. of Jackson, TN. He leaves to cherish eight sisters, Mattie Ruth Witherspoon, Alice Marie Williams, Joyce Louise Jarmon, Patricia Laverne (Melvin) Owens and Ada Marie Thaxter of Jackson, TN; Jacqueline Elaine Long of Humboldt, TN; Sharon Ann Thaxter-Smiley (John) of Huntsville AL; and Tracy Marchelle Thaxter-Hunter of Clarksville, TN; three brothers, Earl Dewayne (Carol) Thaxter of Mt. Juliet, TN; Aussie Bruce (Krystal) Thaxter, Jr. of Clarksville, TN; and Mark Anthony (Revon) Thaxter of Olive Branch, MS. Lee Henry leaves three uncles, Charlie (Ruby) Clark of Gary, IN; George (Mary) Clark of Merrillville, IN; and C.H. (Cora) Clark of Jackson, TN; and three aunts, Virginia Reed, Rose Ann Key of Jackson, TN; and Mattie Weddle of Memphis, TN.
He left a total of 14 step-grandchildren, 10 great step-grandchildren, 44 nieces and nephews, 88 great nieces and nephews, and 36 great-great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, friends, and his East Jackson Church of Christ family in Jackson, TN.
