David Leland "Lee" Bolger

David Bolger Obituary

David Leland Bolger died peacefully pm Tuesday morning April 15, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lydia Bolger of Fresno; and his brother, Richard Bolger also of Fresno He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Bolger of Fresno. Lee graduated from Fresno High School and Fresno State College. Lee met the love of his life in 1950 and he and his faithful wife Iva Lue Bolger (Howell) were married in September 1951. Their first son, Leland David Bolger, was born in July of 1952 while Lee was in Korea serving in the Army. After Lee returned from military service, they had another son, Craig Howell Bolger, who was born in March of 1956. Leland married Sandi and they reside in Rocklin, California. Craig married Toni and they reside in Paradise, California. While the boys were growing up, the family enjoyed family camping and hiking trips and annual trips to Santa Cruz. Lee worked for The Fresno Bee for 32 years as an advertising executive. He retired from The Bee in 1992. He was an avid hiker and fly fisherman. He was a gifted artist and loved to paint mountain scenery and places that he enjoyed. In 1996, Lee and Iva Lue moved to Sun City in Roseville, California where he resided until his death. Lee's biggest passion was his family. He loved spending time with his granddaughters Stephanie ( Bolger) Wesselman, Jennifer (Bolger) Warkocki, Ashley (Bolger) Lefebrve, and Catherine Bolger; and his grandsons-in-law, Robert Wesselman, Scott Warkocki and Adam Lefebrve. He also adored his great -grandchildren, Joshua and Emma Wesselman, and Maxwell Warkocki. Lee had a strong belief and faith in the Lord and before his illness was an active member at Pleasant Grove Community Church. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by brother-in-law, Clyde Howell and his wife Orpha of Richvale; sisters-in-law, Myrna Bolger Taul and her husband Bob of Fresno, Gloria Bonander of Portola, and Elsie Howell and Helen Howell of Kingsburg. There are also many surviving aunts, nieces, and nephews. Lee will be remembered as a kind, strong, honorable man, loyal husband, loving father, generous grandfather and great grandfather. Lee was a beautiful and fun-loving person and will be missed by all of those he touched. Friends are invited to join the family at a Memorial Service at Pleasant Grove Community Church, 1730 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville, Ca. on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Music and Humor Department, Saint Agnes Medical Center, 1303 E. Herndon Ave, Fresno, CA 93720.
