Dennis Robert Wilson was born in Fresno on July 16, 1948, and passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the age of 61, after a courageous 16 year battle with cancer. Dennis graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1972. He attended Fresno City College where he received an Associate of Arts degree along with completing the Basic Police Academy training course. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Fresno. Dennis joined the Fresno City Police Force in 1972, and worked until 1992. While working with the Police Department, he received letters of accommodation and achieved numerous training certificates. After retiring from the Police department he completed the training program and received his teaching credentials through the Fresno County Office of Education and became a substitute teacher for the Fresno Juvenile School program. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend his free time in the mountains hunting and looking for treasures. Dennis will truly be missed. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Josephine Wilson.
A Memorial Service will be held at the American Legion Post, 509 Hall, 3509 N. First St., on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

October 13, 2009 was a very sad day. Thursday will not be any easier. But, Mike and I have many many fond memories. Camping in the summer months is a big memory and I am happy that we have many pictures of all of us together. All the barbecues and watching the kids grow up. What I am most grateful for is last summer when you came up to visit Mike and I where we were camping, that was a good day. I loved watching you and Mike letting all the sweat bees land on you while I watched from the trailer window. There are many funny stories throughout the years.
I am also grateful that I was able to talk with you the last few weeks. I can only say you no longer have to suffer but what a fight you put up and how strong you were.
I want to say how very sorry I am to the family and God Bless you Dennis, now you are at peace.
Sincerely,
Mike and Pam Sagardia
