DIANE WITHEROW Obituary

Diane (Pitto) Witherow, 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her home surrounded by those she loved, following a long illness which she handled with great dignity and courage. Diane was born in Madera on January 17, 1943 to Louis and Rose Pitto. She attended both Eastin Arcola and St. Joachim schools. She later graduated from Madera Union High School with the Class of 1960, maintaining treasured lifelong friendships with her classmates. Diane was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Frank, for 52 years. Shortly after getting married they moved to New Jersey before returning to Madera in 1964. Since 1984, they made their home in Fresno and are members of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. They enjoyed traveling together and had many happy times celebrating events with friends and family. Diane's children and grandchildren always filled her with a great sense of pride and brought a beaming smile to her face. During her working years, Diane was employed for 17 years in various positions for Bank of America at branches both in Madera and Fresno. However, her favorite role was evident in her devotion to her family. She relished the opportunity to be involved in her children's activities and interests, and continued this dedication with all of her grandchildren. Diane was also an amazing cook and everyone always looked forward to the meals she prepared at family gatherings, especially her homemade raviolis. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rose Pitto. Diane is survived by her husband, Frank, of Fresno; son Ken Witherow and his wife, Nancy, of Fresno; daughter Julie Henderson and her husband, Paul, of Ladera Ranch, California; sister Barbara Mayes and her husband, Ken, of Florida. She was the cherished "Nonni" to Jessica Witherow, and Lauren and Amber Henderson. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 2 to 7 PM at Jay Chapel followed by a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madera. Diane's family requests that memorial remembrances be sent to Hinds Hospice (559-320-0308) or the charity of their choice. Jay Chapel, 1121 Roberts Avenue, Madera, California (559)674-8814
