Donald Bunn Obituary

DONALD K. BUNN Cherished for his devotion to family and friends, Donald Kenneth Bunn passed away quietly at St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California, on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, after his courageous battle with Parkinson's and heart disease. Don was born on January 12, 1923, at Myrtle Point, Oregon to Ralph M. and Leila R. (Davis) Bunn and graduated from Naselle High School in Grays River, Washington. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and was assigned to Camp Pinedale to complete his training as a radio operator prior to serving in the South Pacific, The Philippines and Japan. While at Camp Pinedale, he met the love of his life, Joyce M. Castro, at the Rainbow Ballroom and married her on July 30, 1946, after the war. They spent 55 years together prior to her death in 2002. Following their marriage, they moved to Spokane, Washington where their children were born: Janice May Bunn of Reedley, California, Alvin Ray Bunn and his wife Lisa Lee of Fresno, Shirley Ann Stoller and her husband, William K. Stoller of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Randall James Bunn and his wife, LeeAnne Sevy of Lancaster, California; all living. After working for the U.S. Post Office in Spokane, Don relocated to Fresno in 1956 where he was self-employed in the television and appliance repair business. In 1965, he went to work as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired in 1984. Don was an incredibly warm, witty and generous man who loved people and showed a great interest in always helping others. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Archie Thomas Bunn, Raymond Alvis Bunn, and Wilfred Ralph Bunn. Don is also survived by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky, Clovis, on Friday, November 10, 2006, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be at Clovis Cemetery on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Don requested that memorial gifts be made to the Joyce Bunn Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Janice Bunn, 429 E. Dear Janice, Bridgette and Cinda:

My condolences to each of you and your entire family. I am blessed to have known him for over 20 years now. What a quality man so very dedicated to his family he was. My family will keep your family in our hearts and prayers during this time of healing and reflection on his marvelous life. Blessed is Bridgette with her beautiful baby with "grandpa's eyes." May your family's faith be with you all during this time. God Bless.

Dear Shirley, Janice, Alvin and Randy. Kevin and I just want to let you all know that we think of both your mom and dad often. How many grand memories we have of living in our first house next door to them. They were certainly the best neighbors that we have ever had. The greatest thing about being neighbors was becoming friends with all of you. We will certainly miss your dad and his jokes and laughter. He was a great friend and we loved him dearly. Many blessings to all of you and we wish we could be there with you as you gather to remember your father. We love you all.
