DONALD EUGENE QUALLS

Donald Eugene Qualls was born on March 28, 1930, in Redondo Beach, CA. He peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017, in his favorite "blue chair" in his beloved home on his ranch in Clovis, CA, from Alzheimer's complications. Don graduated from Monrovia Arcadia Duarte High School in 1948. He served four years in Air Force Intelligence. He married Frieda A. Horensma on May 12, 1956, and was happily married to her until her passing on January 26, 2007. Don had a second chance at love when he met and then married Carol Ann Stayton on May 16, 2009. They had a lively marriage until Carol passed away on January 17, 2017. Don was an insurance broker for over 60 years and he founded Qualls & Associates Insurance Services, Inc. He enjoyed family time and gatherings at his home as well as camping, fishing, his Arabian horses and "horsing around". Don was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Gladys Qualls; his three brothers, Richard, Ralph, and William; and his sister, Phyllis Arvidson. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Mark and Martha Qualls, and Matt and Stephney Qualls; their daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Simpson; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren; Carol's three daughters and their families; extended family; and many good friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held at Clovis Veterans Memorial District, 808 4th Street, Clovis, CA 93612, on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Don, Frieda and their family have been battling Alzheimer's disease since Frieda's, and subsequently Don's diagnosis.
