El William Turner

TURNER, Mr. El William - Age 75, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, January 29, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Thursday. Mr. Turner now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM today. Mr. El W. "Hawk" Turner was born April 7, 1933 in Cherokee County Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Nathaniel Whittenburg and Izola Turner. El William graduated from Genorand High School in 1951. He moved to Flint, Michigan in 1952 and served in the United States Military with an Honorable Discharge. El William was employed at Buick City a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 599, retiring with 37 .5 years of service in 1993. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mrs. Delores Turner; 2 daughters, Gladys Jackson and Vickie Sue Price, all of Flint, MI; sister, Billie Sue McFadden of Graffy, SC; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Olivia Lovita Berry-Turner; godson, Mr. Wiliam Larry Mays; 7 grandchildren, Leondra Morgan, Latasha Turner, Tristian Jackson, Nickolas Allen, Latoya Turner, TaShell Jackson, Brandon Boyd, all of Flint; 2 great-grandchildren, Zamir Turner and Treylan Jackson-Osborne; 5 nieces, Sheila Price, Sharon Price, Anthlean (Willie) McIntosh, Geraldine (Jeff) Bell, all of Flint and Ruby Shippy-Davis of Graffy, South Carolina; 6 great-nephews; 9 great-nieces; 19 great-great- nieces, all of Flint. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his 2 sons, Mr. Kenneth Duane Crawford and Mr. Forrest Kevin Turner.
