Eldon Lee "Papa" Smith

Papa Eldon Lee Smith passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2007, at the age of 67. Eldon was born and raised in Fresno. He worked as an electrician for over 40 years with J.C. Electric, H.P. Metzler and Sons, Cornuts and King City Electric. He was a past member of the 4-wheel drive club and the Clovis Elks Lodge. He also served in the U.S. Navy and the Clovis Police Reserves. Eldon met the love of his life, Carol Lynn Morgan and wed on December 5, 1958, and raised four children and spent 49 years together until his death. Eldon was an avid outdoorsman. He felt most at home in the high country of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping, and shared these passions with his father, sons, and grandsons. Eldon passed on his love and many passions in life to his four children and 11 grandchildren whom he deeply loved. Eldon was a man of faith, having been impacted by the promise keepers, he became a follower of Christ, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack C. Smith; his mother, Elvie Mae Macdonald; his brother, Jay C. Smith; and sister, Vian Amico. He is survived by Carol Lynn Smith, his wife of 48 years; his sons, Terrell Smith and his wife Sherri, and Randall Smith and his wife Kelli; his daughters, Becky Piche and her husband Robert, and Debby Schmidt and her husband David; his 11 grandchildren, Kattie Smith, Isaac, Jared, and Bethany Piche; Alexandra, Jillian, Nathan, Harrison, and Chandler Smith, and Julian and Devin Schmidt; his brother, Ken Smith of Placerville; and sisters, Jane Boyet of Placerville, Patty Hansen of Dunlap, and Pam Hart of Spokane, Washington. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home in Clovis on Sunday, June 17, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on Monday, June 18, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Peoples Church, 7172 N.
