FRANCES CUMMINS Obituary

Frances passed away peacefully in Santa Cruz, with her daughter by her side, on February 26, 2014. Frances was born on April 7, 1925, in Springfield, Missouri. She moved to the Fresno area in 1937, where her family operated a dairy ranch. She was a graduate of Tranquillity Union High School, where she was an accomplished violinist. She and her husband Orville left the Fresno Area in 1956 and moved to Huntington Beach, then San Jose, and lastly Santa Cruz.

Frances was a beautiful and kind woman with a radiant smile, who made love, patience and welcome the themes of her life. She was a devout Catholic and her faith guided her entire life. Her "joie de vivre" and overall zest for life could not go unnoticed. She was the quintessential mom and enjoyed every happy moment with her family. Her boundless love, care, wit, wisdom and intuitiveness were the glue that held our family together with great strength. She was a spirited supporter of her children's and grandchildren's activities and education, making them feel happy and secure in the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Della Francka; her husband Orville of 60 years of marriage in 2007; and her two sisters, Lillian Robinson and Barbara Charles.

Frances is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Cindy Cummins of Los Osos; her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Arthur Fischer of Santa Cruz, and their children, Michael and Alexandra. She also leaves her sister, JoAnne DeBenedetto of Fresno; her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Joanne Francka of Clovis; and several nieces and nephews.

Thank you Mom and Dad for your love and devotion to each other and to our family and friends. You will be dearly missed and will live on in our hearts forever.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband with a committal ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fresno.

To Brenda, Bradley and their Families...
Your Mom was my dearest and treasured friend and I will cherish, always, the memories of the good and fun times we all enjoyed on Wilkie Avenue. Those were great years!!! Your Mom holds a special place in my heart and I will miss her always. Remember all the "special" times that you shared together with your Mom, the joys you brought into her life and one day soon, the beautiful memories will, again, bring a smile to your heart. Blessings and Hugs to all......

We were so lucky to have had Frances and Orville (and Brenda as a teenager) as neighbors in San Jose - what a wonderful family! We still think of Orville everytime we see and buy a Frito Lay product. Frances was such a beautiful and loving woman. Gloria cherished the walks they took together. We cherish our memories of time spent with the Cummins family. Brenda has set a high standard for all of us to follow in caring for our love ones.
Our deepest sympathies for Brenda and Brad and your families.

Thank you Frances for giving me a family I could only dream of. Your son is full of a tremendous love which he gave to me. That love came from you. Your daughter is the sister I could only have had because of you. You gave me the love of a mother, a gift like no other. I thank you and I love you.

Thank you mom for being the wonderful, loving and supportive mother that you were. You gave me a perfect childhood which carried over to adulthood. I could not have been given a more love filled life than that which you gave me. You will be forever missed and cherished. I love you.
