Gene Wunderlin Obituary
January 20, 1938 - November 28, 2023
Fresno, California - Gene was born in Oregon to Karl and Mary Wunderlin. He discovered his love of the sea and travel and joined the Coast Guard at the young age of 22. After completion of his service he continued his adventures in the Merchant Marines. He travelled the world and lived in Germany for several years. Upon his return to North America he became the first American to crew for the Queen of the North Atlantic-the Bluenose II. Eventually he came to California to pursue a degree.
He met his future wife Mary at his best friend's wedding in San Francisco and they remained together for more than 48 years! Gene was the proud owner of Coffee Works and he utilized innovative coffee roasting technology. He had a great fondness for furry feline friends and was a loving pet parent for most of his lifetime.
Graveside services will held Thursday February 1 at 12 noon at Belmont Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Grandpaws Pantry to assist pets in need.
