Gilbert Perez Sr.

Gilbert passed away at home in Fresno at the age of 63, surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. He worked for Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Alex Perez; his parents, Joaquin and Francis Perez; mother-in-law, Guadalupe Vasquez; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard, Mary and Henry Vasquez; and sister, Esther Quintero. Gilbert was a loving husband and father. He was a hard working man who cared for and provided for his family. He was an avid St. Louis Rams fan, enjoyed watching boxing and playing pool. Gilbert is survived by Lucy, his loving wife of 38 years; children, Angela, Gina, Gilbert Jr., and Valerie Perez, all of Fresno; brothers, Mike, Eddie and his wife Mickey, Carlos and his wife Lupe; sisters, Toni Chavera, Jenny Martinez, Clara Mendez and Vera Perez; grandchildren, Alexis and Aaron Perez, Eric, Larissa and Aniessa Perez, Savannah, Arianna, Andrew and Joaquin Perez; many loving nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruben and Connie Blancas, Bob and Josie Lucero, Arthur and Yolanda Vasquez, Johnny and Alice Vasquez, and Teddy and Ruth Gutierrez; and dear friends, Deanna Mendoza and Stephanie Benavides. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Palm Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Cathedral on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Washington Colony Cemetery.
