GREGORIO RIVERA Obituary

Gregorio was born in Mexico, on October 10, 1936, to Jose and Carmen Rivera. He passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, in Clovis, Ca. Greg was a loving family man and was a very hard worker. He was a gardner for 50 years and grew the most beautiful things. He was also an animal lover. A special thank you to Dr. Rao, and the staff at Clovis Community Medical Center. Gregorio was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carmen Rivera; his sister, Sabrina Rivera; and his brothers, David and Joel Rivera. He is survived by his loving wife, Manuela Rivera; his sons, Gregorio Rivera Jr. and his wife Pamela of Clovis, Ca., George Rivera, Leroy Rivera of Fresno, Ca., and Vicente Rivera of San Diego, Ca; his daughter, Rita Rivera of Fresno; his brothers, Manuel, Raymundo Rivera, of Clovis, and Joe and John Rivera of Fresno; his sister, Juanita Salas, of Fresno; three grandchildren, Gregorio Rivera III, Jarrod Rivera and Thomas Rivera-Robertson; and two great-grandchildren, Leila and Kairi Rivera. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home, on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2222 W. Shaw, Ste. 202, Fresno, Ca. 93726; or Tree Fresno, 776 E Shaw, Ste #102, Fresno, Ca. 93710.

Greg began a friendship with my family that spanned from the 1970's when he worked at the nursery on Clovis Ave. My dad and mom would always purchase the annual garden materials (Usually Chilies and tomatoes) there because of his friendliness. Later, Greg became my landscaper and gardner for many years. His smile and easy-going manner is what I will always treasure. I pray peace and love unto the family and a special hug to Sister Juanita for her friendship at Fresno Worship Center. Blessings!
