Ingrid Novak

INGRID NOVAK Ingrid, born Ingrid Beckmann on September 17, 1931, in Lubeck, Germany, was the daughter of Hans and Irmgard Beckmann. As a young teen, Ingrid would help her mother tend to her baby brother, Peter Beckmann, during the war-torn years of WWII in Germany, while Ingrid's father was a prisoner of war in France. After the war, Ingrid studied professional photography until Ingrid and her family made the voyage to America in 1951. Later, Ingrid's parents opened a restaurant called Beckmann's Fountain and Diner at Farmer's Market in 1957. While attending night school to become a citizen, Ingrid met and later married her husband of 50 years, George Novak, who preceded her in death in 2003. Ingrid worked at Coopers Dept. Store. She also worked part time at Round-up Bar-B-Q at Farmer's Market. She loved to vacation in Wawona, Santa Cruz and Carmel, and take cruises with her many friends and trips to Germany with her family. Ingrid and her German Club friends still gathered together every other week for coffee and to enjoy each other's company. Our lovely Ingrid went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2007, after a bout with cancer. All who knew "the lovely Ingrid" were blessed by her being a part of their lives. Ingrid is survived by two daughters and their families, daughter, Ann McCoid and her husband Steve who live in San Jose and their sons Scott and Bryan; and daughter, Diana Cox and her husband Randy who live in Clovis and their son Conner and daughter Taylor; and brother, Pete Beckmann and his wife Gina and their daughters Melanie and Malia. A Memorial Service will be held at Southpoint Church on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to Break the Barriers, 8555 N. Cedar Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
