JACQUELINE KALOOSTIAN Obituary

Jackie was born April 27, 1936, and passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Jackie was the eldest of three children born to Garabed "Charles" and Alice Garabedian in Marseille, France. At the young age of 19, Jackie ventured-out, on her own, moving to Fresno, Ca. from France where she would meet and marry the love of her life, George Kaloostian. Jackie worked in retail for over 40 years with Gottschalk's. With a kind, generous, fun-loving spirit, she was the quintessential people person and always cherished being with her family and friends. Jackie loved to travel and, in retirement, enjoyed regular shopping trips and "Happy Hour" with her friends at Starbucks. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her precious granddaughter Meagan whom she adored. Jackie was a woman of deep Christian faith. She joyously served her church, Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, as a board member of the Ladies Aid and as a member of the Trinity Guild. She frequently volunteered her time, treasure, and talents for numerous church activities. Jackie also served the California Armenian Home as a member of the Home Guild and as a patron member of the Ani Guild. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at St. Agnes Medical Center for their highly competent and compassionate medical care; Dr. Reyes and his staff were wonderful. We especially would like to thank Dr. Steven Chooljian for his many years of heartfelt, dedicated and diligent medical care. Jackie is preceded in death by both parents; and her husband George Kaloostian. "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." John 14:1-3 She is survived by her daughters, MaryAlice and Linda Kaloostian from Fresno; son Marty; daughter-in-law Dena; and granddaughter Meagan, all from Walnut Creek, Ca.; brother, Pierre Garabedian and his wife Sheila of San Jose, Ca.; their sons, Steven Garabedian and family, and Brian Garabedian and family; brother, Robert Garabedian and his wife Sue of Fresno, their children Alison and Keith Garabedian; cousins, Chain and Catherine Garabedian and family of Bethpage, NY; and many dearly loved cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at the Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church in Fresno, Ca. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church.

Dear Mary Alice, Linda and Marty,
I was very saddened upon hearing the passing of your mother. I met your mom a little over 20 years ago when I married to my husband Jeff Poochigian. Every time that I met her in a family function, she was always the nicest person who welcomed me with a smile and asked about our kids with a passion. She never missed an opportunity to show her love and support. I saw her last in Pismo at the family reunion. I will miss her kind and loving personality.
My thoughts and prayers go to you at these difficult times. Sorry my family and I will not be able to attend the funeral. May God Bless her soul and may God comfort you with the precious memories that you shared with her.
May God Bless you all,
Maral, Jeff, Jack and Ani Poochigian

Mary Alice and Linda,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family during this difficult time. May the wonderful memories of your Mother give you comfort.
I remember her when we all worked at Gottschalks together. It really was a wonderful experience that started friendships that lasted through the years.
May God Bless You
Denise (Oakes) Hovsepian
