Jerry left us on Sunday, November 16, 2014, to be with his Creator. He grew up in Clovis, CA when Pollasky street was still a dirt road, graduating from Clovis High School in 1967.
He learned to hunt and fish, and knew his way around the Sierras like the back of his hand. In 1969, he enlisted the United States Navy to bravely serve our Country in time of war. He was an expert plumber who could fix anything, and was well known for his kindness, and willingness to help anyone who asked. His life was full of excitement and adventure, but the greatest love he knew was for his boys.
He is survived and greatly missed by his sons, Jerry and Matt Herrera; his mother, Rosie Ray Herrera; and father, Ike Herrera; siblings, Josie Garza, Jack Herrera, and Jill Chandler; his nephews, Justin and Jacy Garza, and Kevin Chandler; nieces, Jackie, Samantha, Gabriella, and Bailey Herrera, and Kirstyn Chandler; and his favorite cousin, Aaron James Bartlett.
A Viewing will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, 1302 Clovis Ave, on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 836 Dewitt, in Clovis, CA on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Clovis Cemetery. A Reception will be held at American Legion Post 509, 3509 N. First Street, in Fresno following the service.

I just learned of Jerry's passing, sorry I didn't know in time to attend the service. I have many good memories of times with Jerry in high school and shortly after before he left for the Navy. Good guy, fun times.
