Joanne O'Rorke Obituary

The Life Of JOANNE O'RORKE "Jan" Joanne (Jan Johnson) O'Rorke entered Heaven on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, after battling with the horrible disease PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) for several years. Jan was loved by everyone that knew her. She alone affected many lives with her firm belief in God and her teaching of His Words. A native of Fresno where she graduated from Fresno State College in 1957, she was married upon graduation to her husband, John O'Rorke, and had 49 and a half beautiful years together. Their lives covered many aspects from being a school teacher to serving a term with Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Philippines in the 1970's. In later years, they retired to Kingsburg after living in John's native state of Mississippi for six years. They were also fortunate to have been able to visit Ireland and several European countries before Jan was stricken with this rare and debilitating disease. Special thanks go to her loving caretaker, Carol Downs, and the wonderful staff of Hinds Hospice for all the love and comfort provided to Jan during her declining years of the illness. She is survived by her husband John; their son Kevin; and grandchildren Ryan and Alexandra of Clovis. Visitation will be at Creighton Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 12, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Peoples Church on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to The Society for PSP, Exe. Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Rd. S906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031-9942 or Hinds Hospice in Fresno. CREIGHTON MEMORIAL CHAPELKingsburg, CA (559)897-2908www.creightonchapel.com
